The Wheel of Life & Career Transition

Fighting the fear of failure when launching your own biz is real. There are many things to consider, and how it affects our family is just one of the challenges to think about. Deep in your heart you want to show up fully present and available for your family, and run a successful business. In addition to that you may also have a career! The possibilities are endless!

One thing I know for sure - while you can’t forsee all the challenges of running a business, you will have a higher rate of success knowing and understanding roadblocks will be sent your way and having the mental capacity to overcome those challenges is key! A few simple strategies (found here) will help you defeat issues like fear or self-defeatism and keep your mind steady and focused!

An aspect of self-defeatism is over-processing your dreams in your head without actually doing anything about it - this is really hard on your self-esteem. It’s almost like you are living your dream in your head without actually taking action! It can wipe you out. And you don’t want that. You want to be ready and willing to chase your dreams without the fear mongering roadblocks blaring in your head.

A solution that works really well is to clear up any unfinished business, you know...things that you have been mulling over in your head for far too long, that are taking up your mental, physical or spiritual energy and getting those out on paper.

That is why I am here today. To give you a practical tool that will really launch you in your business efforts and get some simple momentum going!

Question…? What is occurring in your personal life that could be holding you back or grinding away at you? If you’re not entirely certain…keep reading!

The Wheel of Life is a gentle reminder to take stock, and address those outstanding items that are taking your attention in a glance - without the guilt.

I’ve used this tool many times with my clients to help them make improvements on a scale of 1-10 in particular spheres of life. The wheel of life prompts you to examine how you function or spend your time, and helps you determine what you would like to change, and how you would like to rate it? It puts you in the drivers seat.

You can then begin itemizing any competing priorities that may want to derail you from launching yourself and your business. In fact, this tool may help nudge you in ways you never expected. It can help you take stock of almost every area of your life in a glance. And it diminishes the guilt that comes when you choose to put something down or release it. It’s a very effective tool to help you make changes!

Please don’t get me wrong. I don’t mean to say that things like relationships will derail your business launch, but it’s something to be aware of. Is there something you need to tweek? Are you spending a bit too much time with people who aren’t encouraging you? What are you convicted to change?

Something else to think about, it’s possible you may need to rank yourself a low score in one area but for now there is nothing you can do to change or fix it. If that is the case you simply recognize it as a future goal, and move on to the next sphere.

However, if you do rank a low score in a particular area, and you can do something about it, I encourage you make the change. An additional tool I use to make changes is simply calendarize the item I want to implement. In some cases good habits can be as simple as a series of appointments in your Iphone calendar. :). Just be sure not to overextend your expectations but keep them high enough that you’ll be stretched.

That is the key to change. Stretching yourself while not over extending…This is a very important concept.

Incorporating a new way of being into your life, and heart can only happen if we are being stretched. So, CONGRATULATE yourself when you achieve your goal, and allow yourself a little pat on the back, and keep going. Be grateful for the stretching.

Getting back to the purpose of the Wheel of Life….We are pliable-wonderful-humans always changing and growing, and acknowledging your awesomeness, is essential to the journey. Allow your brain and spirit to work together to achieve those changes and welcome the process of building a business, even if you are entering into unchartered territory.

I hope you find these tools helpful on your journey, and I can’t wait for you to make the changes you feel are important, so you can create the life you were truly meant to live.

My next blog will be about launching your biz at 80% - see you then!

Many blessings,

Nancy
